The fruit source is the 10-acre Harvey Vineyard, which is located in Amador County. The vineyard has proof of existence dating back to 1869, when it was listed as a descriptor on a deed from the US Geological Survey.
"The roots of the vineyard plunge to a depth of nearly 20 feet, passing through multiple soil layers," explains Scott Harvey, winemaker for Cloud 9 Wine. The extremely low yields from this historic vineyard produce a multi- dimensional wine with great balance and structure. It is a wine that delineates the passing of each season and offers a taste of the past 135 years.
"The term 'Seity' means 'Singularity. Uniqueness. It is the ultimate expression of one thing or idea,'" explains Scott Heron, founder of Cloud 9 Wine. "With such a rich history, this wine is the ultimate expression of the Zinfandel grape."
Cloud 9 Wine represents the shared vision of three talented, longtime wine professionals, Scott Heron, Jon Engen, and Scott Harvey. This incredible wine talent spent many collective years drinking great wine but wondering if there might be something never yet tried. The Cloud 9 wines are the culmination of their vision and experience.
Cloud 9 produces two wines. Composition is a red-wine blend that captures the best of the old-world varietal flavors sourced from the new world vines of California's premier winegrowing regions. Seity is a vineyard-designate Zinfandel made from some of the oldest living Zinfandel vines on Earth. Both are ultra-premium, limited- production wines that are unmatched in likeness or intensity and pair beautifully with a wide range of foods.
